UGC Net 2019 Overview

UGC NET Exam is conducted by NTA to determine the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship or/ and Assistant Professorship in Indian universities and colleges. UGC NET December 2019 session will be conducted from December 2 – 6, 2019 in online mode. UGC NET Registration for December 2019 session has begun from September 9 – October 9, 2019.

UGC NET 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates willing to apply for UGC NET December 2019 have to fulfill certain eligibility conditions laid down by NTA. UGC NET Eligibility is based on the academic qualification and age limit as described below:

UGC NET Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have scored at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in their Post Graduation or equivalent from any recognized university.
  • Final year students are also eligible to appear in the exam. However, they will be considered for award of JRF or professorship after they pass their qualifying exam with minimum marks.
  • Ph.D. degree holders whose post graduation exam was completed before September 19, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) are provided an additional relaxation of 5% in minimum marks requirement.


UGC NET Age Limit

  • Assistant Professorship: There is no age limit for UGC NET Assistant Professorship.
  • Junior Research Fellowship: The upper age age limit is 30 years as on December 1, 2019.
  • However, age relaxation is provided to reserved category candidates as per government of India norms.


UGC NET 2019 Application Form

Candidates can fill UGC net 2019 Application Form in online mode only at ntanet.nic.in from September 9 – October 9, 2019.
  • Visit the official website and click on Apply online to fill the registration page.
  • Enter your personal details, email ID and mobile number.
  • Post registration, a system generated application number will be sent on the email Id and mobile number.
  • Login again and select your subject, position and preferred exam center.
  • Now, upload your photograph and signature in specified format. 
  • Make application fee payment either through debit card/ credit card/ netbanking or paytm
  • Final step is to download 4 copies of filled in application form and e-receipt of fee payment for further reference.
Note: NTA will open a form correction window from October 18 – 25, 2019 for candidates to make any corrections in the application form.

The application fee determined by NTA varies according to the category of the candidate. Candidates can pay the fees in online mode only.

UGC NET Admit Card 2019

UGC NET Admit Card for December 2019 session will be issued on November 9, 2019. Candidates can download UGC Net admit card only from the official website- ntanet.nic.in by logging in with their registration number and date of birth. UGC NET 2019 Admit Card will specify candidate’s name, roll number, category, photograph, signature, allotted exam date, time and center.
